What is the New Jersey Community Bankers Education Foundation, Inc.?
The New Jersey Community Bankers Education Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3)
organization that was formed by the Board of Governors of the New Jersey League of Community Bankers. The Board was inspired by the significant work and sacrifices of United States military personnel throughout the world, particularly in the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. The Board wanted to do something to help dependents of service members that gave their lives in these conflicts and, accordingly, formed the Foundation to provide scholarships.

Who makes contributions to the Fund?
The Fund was established and is being funded by the members of the New Jersey League of Community Bankers. The membership is comprised of 75 community-minded banks with over 500 branch locations throughout the state. Click here for a listing of these banks.

Who is eligible to apply for a scholarship and what types of educational programs are acceptable for consideration?
Scholarship funds will be considered for those applicants that have a high school or equivalency diploma and are in pursuit of higher education, including technical or vocational training, and demonstrate a financial need. The Foundation defines dependency as the service members spouse, children, stepchildren and grandchildren, and any person for whom the soldier provided one-half of the support for the calendar year.

Either the dependent or the service member must have a connection to New Jersey. To establish this connection, either the applicant's permanent address must be in New Jersey, or the service member's last permanent address or military base, must have been in New Jersey.

When will the Foundation begin accepting scholarship applications?
Please contact the Foundation for the deadlines for applications. You may click here to download an application or write to the address below.

What other education resources are available to dependents?
